Battle Report - Dropfleet Commander - Scourge vs UCM ~2250pts

2025-04-09 battle report / spaceships / dropfleet commander / dfc ucm / dfc scourge /

Needed to get those fresh models into a game, so went with the native option. It's about 2250 points give or take a few, 90% of my Scourge, 80% of my UCM.

Skipping straight to turn 2, the activation order wound up with my whole fleet staring down about half of the UCM. Everything Scourge coming in Silent Running while the UCM fast and light burn for the middle. There was some light exchange of fire at this point, but nothing decisive. My boarding cutters died valiantly, landing enough wormy assault horrors on the Jo'burg Battlecruiser to spell its doom

Not as one-sided as it looks

Turn 3 we let loose, everything with a decent tonnage going Weapons Free and damn the signature. A San Fran went nucular and took my entire pack of corvettes with it. The Taipeis took out the rest of the boarding cutters before they could make it to the Beijing class Battleship. UCM launch was rolling hot and racking up cruiser kills.

Emerging from a debris field, a destroyer pack cuts down a San Francisco troopship.

Turn 4 saw almost all the dropships burning as they fell into atmo or augured into the firmament. The heavies came into range of one another, dragging each other down.

The Demon class Scourge battleship overtakes the Johannesburg class Battlecruiser, rank upon rank of occulus beam nodules raking the hull, while boarders tear through systems and personnel.

We called it turn 5, there wasn't going to be enough left on either side to shift the game, the Scourge were nearly wiped out while the Beijing put a fist in the air, bloodied but still standing.

I still like a lot about Dropfleet Commander, at least the first edition.
